Elizabeth competes and Earns Martial Arts Award

Open-mouthedElizabeth competed in a Martial Arts Tournament a couple of weeks ago and took Second Place in Sparring. She was ahead in points and could have taken First, but choose to stop the match, because she was in pain. Elizabeth recooperated and her instructor has her on a toughing up training program.
Sam finished The Invisable Man reading series and has decided he really likes the story. He is now working on The Man in the Iron Mask. Reading is enjoyable for him now, with the home school program he is in. He will be going to The Challenger Learing Center in Kenai, next month, for a series on space exploration and Mars.
About the picture: This picture was taken at the karate tournament in Anchorage. Elizabeth is thrid from the left. The kids are waiting to spar.

End of The School Year coming soon!

The end of the school year is coming up very soon! Sam and Elizabeth are taking their end of the year, school district required, exams. Cecelia is spending time hanging out with Brenda, who is Kyla's mom (Elizabeth's best friend). Iggy got a nice raise this year and Cecelia is getting out a lot more. The snow is melting and we have warmer days.

Mt. Readoubt erupts and brings bad smells our way

Mt. Readout Volcano has erupted! It is spreading bad smells and ash all over The Kenai Peninsula. Mt. Readout is right across the inlet from Kenai and when the wind is blowing just right, the smoke and ash blow right over the top of our house. Today is the worst day, since it first erupted two weeks ago. We are prepared and know what to do. For more infomation about Mt. Readoubt go to www.avo.alaska.edu, for updated and volcanic history here in Alaska.

Elizabeth earns her Black Belt in Karate!

Elizabeth took her Black Belt Test Sat. Feb. 21, 2009 and passed with flying colors. She now has plans to study for her Second Degree Black Belt, too. She's had a long difficult road to her accomplishment. only because of her mother being ill and having heart surgery. Elizabeth stuck out her commitment and saw her dream come true! Dreams can come true! Hard work is a big part of making any dream come true and she knows that now. Here's a picture of Sensai Okamoto placing Elizabeth's newly awarded First Degree Black Belt around her waist, for th first time. Many of the class members and their families celebrated at a local restraunt afterwards. She has worked towards her Black Belt for 7 years. Elizabeth is working on earning her Second Degree Black Belt now.Open-mouthed

Our 16th Wedding Anniversary

We are spending our 16th wedding anniversary in Anchorage at The Residence Inn Marriot Hotel. It's a great place to stay in Anchorage. The kids went swimming last night and this morning. Elizabeth got to bring her friend along with her. The kids went swimming and had a great time. Iggy loves the Hot Tub. Iggy gave me a Diamond and Ruby Heart Necklace. It's beatiful! It snowed a llittle bit last night, but it's a beautiful party cloudy/sunny day today:) Elizabeth took a photo of us with my digital camera, so I posted it on this page. Iggy's family has a member in the hospital and all of us spent time with them.  Iggy's cousin/sister invited all of us over for dinner and we had cake and Eskimo Ice Cream for dessert. (yum!) We had a GREAT time!

Hi guys. I had a great time at the competition. Kyla was bummed that she forgot the end of her kata, she said that having Mr. Hancock as one of the judges made her nervous. We are all doing well and enjoying the spring weather. Soon all the snow will be gone and we can start cleaning the yard. Yippee!Tongue out We did get her a T-shirt to commemorate her first competition. She got an extra large one to wear as a sleep shirt. The kids will be going to their dads for the summer so they won't be doing karate for the month of July. They will miss it. Hope all is well. Bren
